The Immigration and Naturalization Service approved
81,262 petitions for H-1B workers from October 1999 to February 2000.
The employers who received the largest number of H-1B visas included
computer companies, accounting firms, consulting groups, telephone
companies and universities. The top ten companies that received the
largest number of approved H-1B visas included: (1) Motorola Inc. (618),
(2) Oracle Corp (455), (3) Cisco Systems Inc (398), (4) Mastech (389),
(5) Intel Corp (367), (6) Microsoft Corp. (362), (7) Rapidigm (357), (8)
Syntel Inc. (337), (9) Wipro LTD (327), and (10) Tata Consultancy Serv.

Follow the steps for getting the status on your
H1-B ( INS Form I-129)
1. Ask your employer and find out the Service Center
your H1-B Papers are filed. There are 4 service centers in US. Vermont,
California, Texas, and Nebraska.
2. Get the Receipt number from employer, a 13 digit number will be sent
to the employer when the INS receives and files the H1 Papers from the
employer.
3. Service Centers Contact Phone numbers are listed below on the left
side.
4. Call that number and the automated message will tell you to punch in
the 13 digit receipt number.
5. You will get the status of your H1.
6. To find out the processing times, click on the INS processing times
for the respective service centers at the upper right side.
